About Us

The Nemeth Quartet, which was selected as the ‘Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year’ at the 2017 Donizetti Classical Music Awards organised by Andante Magazine, was awarded the ‘Professional Services Award’ by Yunus Emre Rotary Club in 2019 and the ‘Awareness Special Award’ by the Internal Audit Institute of Turkey in 2020. The ensemble is one of the most active chamber music groups in Turkey and consists of Gülen Ege Serter (violin), Şeniz Serter (violin), Pınar Basalak (viola) and Mutlu Varlık Kocaili (cello). Active since 2013, Nemeth Quartet is named after Istvan Nemeth and Katalin Nemeth, Hungarian artists who started their music career at Anadolu University State Conservatory and lost their lives in a car accident in 1995.

GÜLEN EGE SERTER - Violin

Born in Eskişehir in 1981, Gülen Ege Serter graduated from Anadolu University State Conservatory, where she was accepted in 1990, with "First Class" in 2001. She received "Honourable Mention" in the "Young Talents Violin Competition" organized by the Ministry of Culture in Ankara in 1998, and "First Prize" in the "Young Talents Violin Competition" jointly organized by Anadolu University and the Rotary Club in Eskişehir in 2000. Gülen Ege Serter was also deemed worthy of Anadolu University's 2012 "Art Encouragement Award" and Yunus Emre Rotary Club's 2015 "Service Award". The artist was appointed as a research assistant at Anadolu University State Conservatory in 2001. In the same year, with a YÖK scholarship, she went to Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory, Prof. She was sent to receive proficiency training in art in M. A. Gotsdiner's class. She completed her education successfully and returned to Turkey in 2004.

ŞENİZ SERTER - Violin

Serter, who started her violin studies with Ionescu Galati at Anadolu University State Conservatory in 1991, continued her education in Ezgi Gönlüm Yalçın's class and graduated in 2002. In the same year, she passed the exams of the Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and became Prof. She continued her education in Marina Yashvili's class.

PINAR BASALAK - Viola

She was born in Izmir in 1981. In 1992, she entered Anadolu University State Conservatory Viola Department and studied with Prof. She started her studies with Koral Çalgan and lecturer Eftal Altun. In 1993, she transferred to Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory and continued her studies with Prof. She continued it with Çetin Aydar. She worked with State Artist Ruşen Güneş in the summer courses of 1993/94 and the master class programs held in 1999/2000. The artist, who participated in the music festival held in Belford, France in 1999, graduated with honors in 2002. She started working as a performer in Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Symphony Orchestra in 2003.

MUTLU VARLIK KOCAİLİ - Cello

In 1990, she entered the cello department of Eskişehir Anadolu University State Conservatory and started her studies with Katalin Nemeth. Kocaili, who has continued her studies with Melih Kara since 1995, successfully graduated in 2001 and graduated from A. Ü. Lecturer at the State Conservatory. She started working as an attendant. She completed her postgraduate studies with Assoc. Mutlu Varlık Kocaili, who conducted her Proficiency in Art studies with Yuri Semenov, was given by Prof. Dr. She completed it with Ozan Evrim Tunca.
